What is a toolkit?

A toolkit is a package of resources and tools that support decision-making on a specific topic. Each toolkit is delivered as a website and downloadable mobile resource within the RDS platform.

We have implemented a wide range of improvements in response to your feedback and requests. These include:

New NHS Scotland branding as agreed with Scottish Government
Search now toggles between toolkit title and all content, rather than the confusing 2 search boxes on the current screen.
Search now operates across a wider range of content (some document types were previously excluded) and the search algorithm has been refined.
You can Favourite key toolkits so that they can return to them with one click, no need to search or browse or bookmark the URL in browser
You can filter and sort search results with greater flexibility and specificity and can hide password-protected resources
Search results (and browse) are categorised into ‘All’, ‘National’ and ‘Patient/Public’ tabs
You can see publishing and review information for a wider range of content types
You can browse and filter search results by organisation (local NHS Board, HSCP, national), and by topic - including condition/disease, service delivery, resource type, population group and staff group.

Content share and edit functionality

We now enable editors to customise content shared from national and local toolkits via the shared library, so that they can enter local service details. Editors will receive updates as the master content is changed and will see the changes highlighted – they can choose to accept or decline the changes. This has been a key ask from editors and from major content providers such as the CFSD national pathways for a long time,. It will greatly help collaboration and consistency across organisations.
