Severe Tonsillitis/Quinsy Inpatient Treatment

Therapy

Benzypenicillin 1.2g IV 4 to 6 hourly

(+ Metronidazole 500mg IV 8 hourly if quinsy suspected)

and discuss with Consultant Microbiologist

Notes:

Severe Tonsillitis/Quinsy Inpatient Treatment - Penicillin allergy

Therapy

Clarithromycin 500mg IV 12 hourly

+

Metronidazole 500mg IV 8 hourly

and discuss with Consultant Microbiologist
