As for UTI, plus:
- Pain in the groin, in the abdomen or around the rectum
- Difficulty passing urine
- Painful ejaculation
- Fever

- Urine culture

Basic universal precautions
Treatment
TRIMETHOPRIM PO 200mg 12 hourly
OR
DOXYCYCLINE PO 100mg 12 hourly
if no improvement after 7 days of doxycycline, consider switching to:
CIPROFLOXACIN PO 500mg 12 hourly (review MHRA Safety Advice before prescribing)
Duration 28 days
For systemic infection, or where IV treatment is needed, manage as for urinary sepsis
