The Health Protection team will assess contacts and cases of confirmed or probable Haemophilus influenzae type B to determine requirements for immunisation and prophylaxis .
Microbiology will contact Health Protection Team 7 days a week for:
- cases of epiglottitis where Haemophilus influenzae (Hi) is isolated from a sterile site
- where Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) is isolated from a sterile site.
