The content in this toolkit has been developed and reviewed by NHSGGC and Glasgow City HSCP based upon MHRA Guidance on the managing and using bed rails safely, August 2023.

Review and approval

The content was reviewed by staff across NHSGGC and Glasgow City HSCP, and approved for use within NHSGGC and Glasgow City HSCP by the Senior Responsible Officer and the Executive Director of Nursing in January 2026.

The toolkit is set to be reviewed annually or when MHRA guidance is updated and or other feedback is received.

Risk assessment

The toolkit has been risk assessed, and mitigations put in place where required.

User testing

The toolkit was user tested by NHSGGC and Glasgow HSCP staff prior to publication, and further user engagement will be undertaken as part of ongoing development work.
