The diagram below illustrates this further.

We currently deliver services in the following areas:
Primary Care:
- Renew
Secondary Care:
- Adult mental health
- Older adult mental health
Please note that all referrals to the Borders Older People’s Psychology Service are made through MHOAS. Referrals are initially triaged by colleagues in MHOAS and then discussed as part of weekly multidisciplinary meetings before being assessed for suitability for neuropsychological assessment or for psychological therapy.
- Substance use
Please note that there is not direct GP access to referrals for psychological therapy within substance use. Psychological therapy referrals are made by colleagues within Borders Addiction Service, CHIMES and With You, once the person’s substance use has stabilised through the multidisciplinary input of one of these services.
- Learning Disabilities
Please note that all referrals to the Borders Learning Disability Psychology Service are made through the general Learning Disability Referral route. Referrals are triaged by the multi agency team as part of the weekly team meetings, which are attended by a Clinical Psychologist and a decision about the appropriateness of referrals to Psychology are made in that meeting
- Child psychology (CAMHS and paediatric psychology)
Please note that CAMHS Psychology is part of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and not a stand-alone Psychology service. All referrals should be made to the CAMHS service. CAMHS Psychology see people within that service’s role and remit.
