The Wellbeing Service delivers the ‘Quit Your Way’ programme which provides specialist one-to-one support for people aged 12 years and over who wish to stop smoking.

The programme lasts for 12 weeks, and advisers can provide behavioural support in person, by phone or virtually.

The support offered includes suggestions and advice about appropriate nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). Advisers can arrange for patients to collect NRT from local pharmacies within NHS Borders.

All NRT offered follows the East Region Formulary, and is free of charge to patients engaging in the Smoking Cessation Service.

The Wellbeing Service also offers structured individual smoking cessation intervention for pregnant women through specially trained advisers.

The Wellbeing Service also offers a Vaping Cessation service to support patients aged 12 years and over to stop vaping. NRT is not currently available for vaping cessation

Who to Refer, who not to refer , how to refer

Who to refer:

Smoking & Vaping Cessation: All patients, age 12 and over.

Patients should be motivated and ready to engage. Interventions require a level of self-help.

Who not to refer:

Patients aged 11 years and under

How to refer:

To access the service, patients may either refer themselves, or be referred by a professional using SCI gateway or a referral form which can be found on wellbeing service website (please see local service details section).

Referrals for Pregnant women are received by email via Badgernet.
