- Ganglion cysts look and feel like a smooth lump under the skin.
- Ganglions usually form near joints or over extensor tendons.
- 3 in 4 ganglions form near the wrist.
- Ganglions are harmless, but can sometimes be painful especially if bumped or knocked. They are not usually disruptive to function

Referral to Secondary Care
- If ganglion is pressing on a nerve, causing weakness, numbness or pain
Refer via SCI Gateway to Occupational Therapy Hand Clinic and include following in referral:
- Duration of symptoms
- Precise location of ganglion
- Problem/issues ganglion causing patient
