Absence Reporting - Medical Staff

In addition, please also email Catherine.Scott5@nhs.scot and Carlyn.Davie@nhs.scot to let us know about your absence so that we can plan the rota for the following days. 

You do not need to disclose excessive details about the reasons you are unwell on the phone but some rough guidance about when you are due back on shift and if you think you are likely to make it would be helpful. 

A medical certificate is required for absences of more than 7 calendar.

On your return to work you will be asked to meet with your Clinical Supervisor to complete a return to work form and discuss any support going forwards.

Absence data is recorded and shared with NHS Education for Scotland.

If you have 4 periods of absence, or more than 8 total days of absence in any 12 month period you will be asked to meet with the Clinical Director for a Stage 1 Attendance meeting in line with NHS Scotland policy.

• Name/Grade
• When they next due on shift and if they are likely to return on that date?
• Advise them to make regular contact with the department to update us regarding absence & return to work. 
• Remind them to also email Catherine and Rota Coordinator as above.
