Heparin Infusion

Warning
There are several different Heparin Infusion Charts within NHS Lothian.
Due to the potential for error, Heparin Infusions should not routinely be commenced within the ED.
Patients should be moved to an appropriate clinical area as a priority, prior to commencing the infusion.
If a Heparin Infusion is required in the ED, it must be prescribed by the Specialty who have recommended it, on the appropriate chart, which they will provide.
