Excellence in care framework
Vision
Excellence in Care (EiC) provides a national approach to how all healthcare teams, both patient and non-patient facing, deliver, evidence, and assure high-quality, safe, and person-centred care.
The EiC Framework and its accompanying Quality of Care Review Guidance and the Leading Excellence in Care Education and Development Framework, sets out a clear, standards-based approach. It supports services to assess quality, identify risks and excellence, apply professional judgement, use national indicators, and embed consistent assurance processes across NHS Scotland.
EiC is not a service redesign methodology. Instead, it provides the agreed national structure, tools, data, and governance needed to deliver, evidence, assure, and continuously improve the quality of care across Scotland.
