Parenteral nutrition (PN)

During transplant admission it may be that we need to use your line to provide nutrition. This is called parenteral nutrition. This may be considered if you are unable to tolerate oral diet or nasogastric feeding.

Parenteral nutrition is not considered first line as it involves using your PICC/Hickman line and can increase risk of infection.
