Our medical team comprises of consultants, registrars in training and experienced advanced nurse practitioners (ANPs). BMT Consultants are senior doctors who lead your care and oversee the transplant process. Specialty doctors are qualified physicians undergoing advanced training in haematology; they rotate through the department every six months as part of their development. ANPs have completed extensive postgraduate training, enabling them to assess your condition, prescribe medications, and carry out procedures such as bone marrow aspirates and line removals. You will be reviewed daily by a member of this team and your medical needs assessed.
As well as medical and nursing staff, we have a designated team of allied health professionals (AHPs) and Consultant Clinical Psychologists. On admission you will be seen routinely by a Dietitian within the BMT team, and reviewed as required throughout transplant/CAR-T therapy. You will also be assessed by a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist as part of the standard pathway for all patients undergoing allogeneic and CAR-T therapy.
