Once we start to plan for home there are a few points to consider.

We ask that everyone goes home with a thermometer in order to closely monitor for fevers. It may also be advised to have scales and BP machine in some cases.

It is important to consider support at home. Many people will feel fatigued and this may interfere with your day to day living. Having good support at home will be invaluable and in some case be a prerequisite for treatment.

If you require hospital transport to get home then you should tell your nurse as soon as you can as this can take some time to arrange. Booking in advance should avoid any transport related delays. You will not be able to use public transport to go home or to travel to and from clinic appointments due to the infection risk. It is also not advised to drive following your transplant. Further information about hospital and public transport is available here

If you have video conference appointments following transplant then you will require a device with a camera and access to the internet.
