Warning

Pornography or 'porn' refers to sexually explicit content, usually images or videos that are created for sexual arousal.

Pornography and the law

Certain types of pornography are prohibited under UK law. These include extreme pornography, which features violent or life-threatening sexual acts and child sexual abuse material, encompassing indecent images of individuals under 18 (whether real or artificially generated). Possessing, creating or sharing this material is a criminal offence. It is illegal to distribute or display any pornographic content to individuals under the age of 18 in Scotland. The law also offers protections against intimate image abuse, often known as 'revenge porn', ensuring protection against the misuse of personal sexual content.
