Warning

Sextortion happens when an individual manipulates, coerces, or threatens a child or young person into providing sexually explicit images or videos, and then uses these materials to extort or exploit them further. The Internet Watch Foundation are receiving increasing reports of this type of crime. This page on their website provides information about what to do if a child in your care is a victim of this crime. Any course of action would need to be taken with involvement and support from Social Work. Go to Website: Advice for parents of children who are being ‘sextorted’ online (iwf.org.uk)
