Purpose and audience

This app aims to support stakeholders and clinical professionals wishing to refer a patient into WestMARC. The information can be used by the referrer to support patients' needs or utilise for learning and development of colleagues. It aims to do this by giving them the tools to:

  • Access information about WestMARC
  • Better understand the eligibility criteria
  • Support their patient to live independently and self care of equipment issued

The app has been developed by the West of Scotland Mobility and Rehabilitation Centre in collaboration with the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Knowledge Services team and Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

This resource is available as both a mobile app (available on the Apple and Google Play stores), as well as a website on the national Right Decisions Service platform.

Governance

Toolkit authors

Content has been authored by the WestMARC team including, prostetics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Wheelchair and Seating teams and Gait Analysis teams.

Review of content

The toolkit will be reviewed every four years or when changes are made to clinical practice, to ensure that all content remains current and relevant.

Governance

The contents of this toolkit has been reviewed by the appropriate Clinical Governance framework within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Risk Assessment

A risk assessment has been completed for this toolkit.  Regular reviews of the information will ensure it remains accurate, relevant and current.

User testing

User testing of this toolkit was carried out before publication by both patients and staff of WestMARC.

Accessibility

Accessibility icons have been added to all website links, phone numbers and email addresses.

Content has been checked for accessibility in line with the relevant RDS Standard Operating Procedures.

Browser and operating system compatibility

The app is supported by Android 4.4 or later and iOS 8.0 or later devices. The website is optimised for use on both desktop and mobile devices in the following browsers - IE9+, Chrome, Edge, Safari.

The resources made available on the App/Website are intended to assist  and support people to best manage their mental health and related needs.
