About the NHS GGC COPD support service

About this service

The NHSGGC COPD Support Service helps you manage your COPD using a smart phone or a tablet and the Doccla patient app.

This support service is available to people with COPD who live within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Referral to the service is currently through the respiratory nurse specialist team at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

How the service works

The NHSGGC COPD Support Service helps you and your respiratory clinicians manage your COPD. You can monitor your symptoms through daily questions, and message the clinical team through the Doccla patient app.

The clinical team can view the information you provide. They’ll use it to help understand the impact of your condition and help you to stay well and avoid hospital stays.

Supporting clinical care

The respiratory clinical team running the COPD support service consists of NHS hospital-based respiratory nurses, doctors and other allied health professionals. They have access to a wide range of respiratory resources across NHS GGC and can coordinate with your local care services and GP to help you manage your COPD. However, this service is not a replacement for local clinical and care services. It should be used alongside routine healthcare check-ups.
