Recovering from a flare-up

It can take time to recover from a flare-up of your COPD. Every person is different, and you may take weeks rather than days to feel back to your usual self again. It is possible to get back to your normal even though it will take time and effort when you may be feeling weak. Getting back to doing the things you enjoy and increasing activities is important to keep you as well as possible. Following an exacerbation, research shows that attending pulmonary rehabilitation classes helps recovery and reduces the chance of readmission to hospital. Speak to your GP or respiratory nurse about referral for pulmonary rehabilitation.
