The purpose of this SOP is to define arrangements for the documentation in an electronic patient record (BadgerNet) of calls and advice given to parent when contacting postnatal wards, Maternity Triage, Neonatal Units and Community midwifery.
Scope
To ensure that there is documentation supporting concerns and advice provided to parents when contacting a maternity or neonatal services.
Parents who access and raise concerns following discharge from maternity units in relation to their baby should receive information and advice and this is documented in an electronic patient record (BadgerNet).
- Access maternal Badger Net record utilising the maternal Chi number.
- Open communication tab within maternal record.
- Record information/concerns that are provided by the parent and document any advice or information provided to the parent.
- Use teach back and clarify if the parent is happy with this advice and record on Badger Net.
- Complete documentation and close record.
