This section covers what local systems need to do to ensure that processes and change are embedded and sustained through the development of positive relationships across services and a strong, skilled workforce.

Consider the below:

  • Is there a clear, transparent and accountable governance structure? This should be focused on learning, robust oversight and auditing with the responsible individual for mental health and substance use integration having overall responsibility for ensuring this. This includes ensuring regular and ongoing analysis of data and information to understand what’s happening in the system, and to provide local assurance of quality and outcomes.
  • Do you have governance systems and processes that are people-led and promote shared decision making?
  • How do you collect data and measurement for learning?
  • How could you adapt services based on analysis of data to inform quality planning, quality control and quality improvement?
  • What data, information and learning sharing processes are in place across statutory and third sector providers?
  • How do you ensure data gathered from multiple sources is triangulated to create insights which can inform decision making?
  • What governance and operations mechanisms exist to ensure feedback is used to inform improvement of services across the whole system?
Find out more about Quality management system. You will find detailed examples of the above and how this could look in practice.
