Hyperacute stroke management (thrombolysis or haemorrhage with hypertension) Q & A algorithm

This pathway is applicable in patients presenting with acute onset of focal neurology within 4 hours 30 minutes of first symptom.

Where cut-offs are given, judgement should be exercised if a patient falls close to the cut-off.

Please ensure that contraindications are considered at the time of first assessment, even if this assessment is by phone.

Assess patient using National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and check blood glucose.
