Specialist Surgery and Specialist Services

Specialist surgery and specialist services deliver a comprehensive range of clinical and surgical care aimed at diagnosing, managing, and treating a broad spectrum of health conditions requiring specialist input or operative intervention. These services span multiple specialties and subspecialties, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred care across both inpatient and outpatient settings throughout the Tayside region.

Care is provided by consultants and multidisciplinary teams, who work collaboratively to support individuals through complex treatment pathways. Services include—but are not limited to—Audiology, Breast, Clinical Genetics, Dermatology, ENT, Haematology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Pain Services, Renal Medicine, and other specialist areas.

These teams work in close partnership with anaesthetics, and wider clinical support services to ensure a coordinated and high-quality patient experience from referral through to recovery.

Referral Guidance

Referrals to the surgical specialities should be directed via the appropriate clinical pathway to ensure timely assessment and management. Primary care referrers are encouraged to use established referral guidance, which includes detailed information to facilitate efficient referrals.

For further information on specific speciality referral criteria, pathways, and contact details, please see available speciality information on the left.
