Who to refer

>5yr Vision or glasses related Community optician
>5yr Everything else (including squint) Hospital eye service

Who not to refer

We may very occasionally ask you to direct that child to their Community Optometrist based on the specific clinical scenario.

How to refer

All referrals go to ophthalmology rather than paediatrics.

Outpatient SCI Gateway referral to Ophthalmology. Where relevant photographs are very helpful for appropriate triage.

Emergency referrals or to discuss an emergency problem please contact the on call doctor via the switch board 01382 660111

Alternatives to referral

Non-urgent advice can be provided via SCI Gateway advice referral.
