To establish a consistent and accountable process for the distribution and return of car park passes for resident doctors.
RIE Car park passes
Standard operating procedure: RIE Car Park Passes (doctors in training)
This SOP applies to all resident doctors who are access Obs & Gynae car park passes during their tenure.
Resident Doctors: Responsible for collection and return of car park passes in a timely manner according to this procedure.
Administrative Staff: Responsible for maintaining the log of issued and returned passes.
Car park passes will only be issued for the following shifts, which require access due to the nature of the duties:
- Labour Ward Shifts:
- Tier 1 (Foundation Year/Junior Doctors)
- ST2
- ST3-5
- ST6 (Senior Doctors)
- Tier 1 Obstetrics Triage Area (OTA):
- 1 shift
- Gynaecology Registrar:
- 1 shift
- Gynaecology Triage Area (GTA):
- 1 shift
- Additional Shifts (if available):
- Theatre 1 (1 pass)
- Theatre 12 (1 pass)
Passes are limited to ensure availability for critical roles and must be returned immediately after the shift concludes.
Step 1: Collection (Issuing Car Park Passes)
Location: Passes are issued from the PA/ Admin Office, Management Corridor, SCRH.
Time: Collection should occur during 0800-1700 and before 1630 on Friday.
Process:
- The resident doctor must present identification.
- Sign the "Car Park Pass Logbook Sheet" including:
- Full name
- Contact number
- Shift type
- Date of collection
- Car park pass number issued
- Administrative staff will verify details and issue the car park pass (wallet and pass).
Step 2: Return (Returning Car Park Passes)
Location: Passes must be returned to PA/ Admin Office, Management Corridor, SCRH.
Time: Returns should occur as soon as possible and between the hours of 0800-1700 and before 1630 on Friday.
Process:
- The doctor must return the car park pass to administrative staff.
- Sign the "Car Park Pass Sign-Out Sheet" including:
- Complete the date returned column.
- Administrative staff will verify the pass and record the return of both the wallet and pass.
In case of loss or damage, notify the PA/ Admin team immediately.
Passes that are not returned and deemed “lost” will be deactivated.
The log of issued and returned car park passes must be maintained by the administrative staff for auditing purposes.
Failure to return a car park pass in a timely manner may be escalated to the Clinical Directors.
