Warning

The O&G department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is very research active – which is great news for patients as it is well established that this improves clinical care. There are a number of studies and trials running and there are opportunities for residents to get involved.

A lot of the research is carried out in partnership with researchers from the Centre for Reproductive Health (CRH). The CRH is based in the Institute for Regeneration and Repair (the black and yellow glass building across from the RIE bus stop).

What can I do to get involved?

Anyone who wants to discuss research with patients needs to complete Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training online course.

This is a great thing to evidence on training portfolios!

I have completed my GCP, what’s next?

Please consider joining the “Gynae Clinical Research” WhatsApp group. Please contact Laura Edwards (clinical research nurse) Laura.Edwards@ed.ac.uk or Marianne Watters (clinical research fellow) mwatters@ed.ac.uk to be added or find out more.

To find out more about obstetric research speak to Dr Rosie Townsend or Dr Sarah Murray, who will be able to provide more information.

How can I find out more?

Clinical researchers love talking about research so please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask questions. If you’re not sure who to ask, please contact Laura or Marianne and who can help or point you in the right direction.
