Gastritis is inflammation of the stomach.
Causes:
- Helicobacter Infection
- Smoking
- Alcohol
- Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory medication (NSAIDs)
- Chronic bile reflux
Types of Gastritis:
Symptoms:
Gastritis may cause none or very few symptoms.
- Indigestion
- Nausea
- Bloating
- Stomach pains
Gastritis can be mild to severe, and can affect anything from one small area of your stomach to your entire stomach lining.
Treatment:
Stop smoking
- Antibiotics to treat helicobacter infection
- If you are taking Aspirin or NSAID to discuss this with your GP
- Lifestyle changes
Lifestyle Changes:
- Eating a healthy diet
- Stop smoking
- Reduce alcohol intake
- Reduce caffeine intake
- Avoiding fizzy drinks
