Accessibility checks

This toolkit complies with the RDS standard operating procedure checklist on accessible content. The draft guidance was reviewed by the HIS comms team, and changes were made to ensure accessibility compliance.

Content management

Content is governed by the Quality of Care Short Life Working Group and Excellence in Care National Team, and final ratification is received from the Excellence in Care Programme Board.

Governance sign-off

The Quality of Care review guidance was ratified by Excellence in Care Programme Board in August 2024. The EiC Programme Board approved use of the Right Decisions Platform in December 2024.

Content updates

Updated content will be following scheduled review and sign-off by Short Life Working Group 12 months after launch of guidance in September 2024.

Content review will be on an annual basis inline with HIS policy.

A range of clinicians were involved with the development and testing of the toolkit content.

Copyright compliance has been checked and sources acknowledged appropriately. 

Evidence base

This guidance is underpinned by the evidence-based Excellence in Care framework. A literature review was undertaken when the Short Life Working Group commenced. The HIS Quality Assurance framework was also used as a source of evidence.

Risk assessment

No risks to patient safety could arise from the use of this toolkit.

User testing

Functionality, usability and user acceptance testing was carried out over a two-week period in September/October 2024 with multiple testers, using testing scenarios and questions reviewed by RDS team.
