Wider RDS developments

RDS access to medicines advice

The RDS Access to Medicines Advice work is progressing well, with the following recent highlights:

  • The Patient Reported Outcome Measures platform has successfully been through User Acceptance Testing, and we are currently planning for several pilot groups across Scotland later this year.
  • The initial version of the SIGN “Word to Web” conversion tool has been produced, and we are now working on final improvements.
  • User engagement work is underway to explore the integration of Health Technology Assessment information (e.g. SMC advice) into guidelines (e.g. from SIGN) on the RDS.

Please get in touch with maria.cordero2@nhs.scot if you have any questions or comments about this work.

Pharmacogenomics decision support

We have produced a prototype of a standalone web and mobile app to provide pharmacogenomics decision support for 20 medicines as part of the European IMPROVE project. This will serve as a back-up and alternative option while some of the complexities of integrating decision support into patient record systems in three countries are worked out.

Multidisciplinary decision support for Planned Date of Discharge.

We are now planning the pilot process in NHS Lanarkshire for this new tool.

High risk prescribing decision support embedded in patient record systems

Evaluation by University of Dundee of the impact of this system on prescribing practice in NHS Lothian and NHS Tayside is now underway.
