User guide - content share and edit
Introduction
Editors can add content to their toolkits from the 'Shared content' area. The shared content area includes guidelines, pathways and other content which can be used in more than one toolkit.
Using shared content has the following advantages:
- Saves editor time
- Reduces any duplication of work
- Allows for better version control
Shared content can also be edited to allow for localisation within toolkits.
Why edit shared content?
Use of the share and edit functionality enables greater consistency and equity in service provision and supports the ‘Once for Scotland’ principle.
Here are a couple of examples of when editing shared content may be a useful strategy:
-
When embedding national referral pathways in a local NHS Board referral management toolkit, this can be customised with local service information
-
A local group planning to write a new guideline have seen a good example from another Board. Rather than duplicate this, they would embed this into their toolkit before adapting as necessary.
