Assessment

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) signs and symptoms

  • Metatarsophalangeal joints (MTPs) mainly and can involve proximal interphalangeal joint (PIP)
  • Swelling and stiffness- may be subtle in early stages
  • Subcutaneous nodules in 20% cases

Psoriatic arthritis

  • PIPs mainly
  • Dactylitis
  • Nail bed pitting
  • Nail bed separation
