Signs & symptoms
- Swelling, bruising around wrist
- Tenderness over anatomical snuff box/scaphoid tubercle
- Increased pain with gripping or pain movement wrist/ thumb
- Wrist deformity (not always present)
- Commonly misdiagnosed as a wrist sprain
- In some cases, a scaphoid fracture may not show on x-ray up until 10-14 days post injury.
Risk factors
- Trauma
- History of fall on outstretched hand
- Prevalent in males aged 15-30 and females with osteoporosis.
