Assessment

Signs & symptoms

  • Swelling on the dorsal side of the wrist, along with synovitis
  • Stiffness and tenderness over the lunate bone
  • Pain mainly on extension
  • Progressive loss of grip strength
  • Decreased active/ passive range of motion
  • Pronation and supination maintained.

Risk factors

  • History or fall on hand or strain
  • Most prevalent in males aged 20-45.

When & how to refer

Refer urgently to Orthopaedics.
