Signs & symptoms

  • More frequently in dominant hand
  • Pain on palpation over anatomical snuff box
  • Sometimes, slight swelling and loss of strength.

Risk factors

  • History or fall on hand or strain
  • More prevalent in females average age 45
  • Prolonged use of corticosteroids, chemotherapy, collagen diseases and alcoholism.

When & how to refer

Refer urgently to Orthopaedics.
