Assessment

Signs & symptoms

  • Morning stiffness that last over 30 minutes.
  • Persistent swelling that lasts in one or more joints.
  • Peripheral: Psoriatic/rheumatoid arthritis (RA)? reactive.
  • Axial: ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic/RA/reactive.
  • Enteropathic: inflammatory bowel.
  • Crohns/ulcerative colitis.
  • History of psoriasis, uvetis, enthesopathy.

Risk factors

  • Recent infection.
  • Family history of inflammatory conditions.
  • Caucasian> Afro Carribean/ Asian.

When & how to refer

Refer to local Rheumatology service.
