Assessment

Signs & symptoms

  • Deep, intense unremitting non mechanical pain.
  • Pain worse at night.
  • Unexplained weight loss (5-10% body weight in 3-6 months)
  • Non mechanical pain.
  • Fever.
  • Mass present.
  • Lymphadenopathy.
  • Subjective history not matching objective findings.

Risk Factors

  • PMH cancer ( bony metastasis can develop in two thirds of patients with previous cancer)
  • Smoker or previous smoker.
  • Obesity.
  • Alcoholism.
  • Over 50 years of age.
  • Inherited genes.

When & how to refer

Refer to local Oncology Service.
