Making a Notification of Concern to Police/Social Work
All staff who work with or come into contact with children, young people and their families have a key role in child protection. They should be alert to the signs and symptoms which may indicate that a child or young person is being exposed to harm and /or abuse.
A notification of concern should be made to Social Work as soon as any concerns regarding a child arise. In situation where the risk is immediate contact should be made to the Police. The notification should be made to the Social Work Initial Response team by phoning 0300 300 1199 which should be followed up by a written Notification of Concern to swbschildcare@renfrewshire.gov.uk. If the referral is being made outside office hours, contact Social Work on 0300 343 1505 or the Police on 101 if appropriate.
