Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) referral
A Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) is a local meeting where representatives from statutory and non-statutory agencies share information about individuals—primarily adult victims—at high risk of serious harm or death due to domestic abuse. The goal is to create a coordinated safety plan that protects the victim, and any children involved, addresses the perpetrator’s behaviour, and links with other public protection arrangements. Victims do not attend; they are represented by an Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDAA). MARACs operate across all Scottish local authorities and are a key mechanism for safeguarding families in high-risk domestic abuse situations.
