The development of the guideline is overseen by the steering group, chaired by a clinical lead. The group membership is multidisciplinary and multiagency with representatives from across Scotland. There are two public partners to represent the views of those with lived experience. The membership reflects the skills and expertise required to sustain the accuracy and currency of the guidelines.

Updates to the guideline are developed by multidisciplinary and geographically representative subgroups of people with experience and expertise in the topic. The steering group provide feedback on the updated guideline during the consultation stage.
