Laerdal ShockLink

This device allows our defibrillators to be connected to our adult and paediatric training mannikins via the associated training pads. All the items required are kept in a grey drawstring bag inside the white ShockLink box.

The device is easy to set up with the following steps:

  1. Download the Laerdal ShockLink app on your phone.
    1. Apple: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/shocklink/id1030723915
    2. Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.laerdal.shocklink&pcampaignid=web_share
  2. Insert the battery into the ShockLink device and rotate the white cap to lock (these items are loose in the drawstring bag, so please don’t lose them!)
  3. Sync the ShockLink device to your phone by pressing Scan on the app screen.
  4. You can now control the sim via the buttons on the app screen.
  5. Connect the black ShockLink cable to the defibrillator cable. The clinical defibrillator pads need to be disconnected for this.
  6. Connect the thin white cable on the training pads to the ShockLink device.
  7. Once pads are placed on the mannikin and the defibrillator is turned on to Manual, press the Override pads tick button at the top right of the screen to confirm they are in place.
  8. You can now control the scenario using the buttons on the app. Press the CPR Artefact button to turn it off during a rhythm check, then press again to turn back on when compressions resume.
  9. Use the defibrillator as normal. Shocks can be delivered, and they are diffused within the device wiring. Use standard safety measures with shock delivery.
  10. Once finished, please ensure all parts are put back in the grey bag, with the battery and white cover removed. Please also ensure the defibrillator is re-connected to the clinical pads.

ResusMonitor

This allows you to display/manipulate clinical parameters in real time during the simulation. No login is required and nothing needs to be downloaded.

The easiest way to set this up is as follows:

  1. Turn on the computer-on-wheels in resus and log in.
  2. Go to https://resusmonitor.com/ on the internet browser on the computer.
  3. Scan the QR code (at bottom of webpage home screen) on your phone’s camera and click the yellow link that appears.
  4. On your phone screen, click the green box (use this device as the controller).
  5. On the computer screen, click the yellow box (display the patient monitor).
  6. You can now control the displayed parameters via your phone. You need to press Apply new settings each time you update a parameter.
