Eye clinic

Many eye conditions can be seen initially and followed up by an optometrist in the community.

You may get a patient seen at the eye clinic at St John's, in OPD 1, by discussing with the doctor or ENP there during the daytime on extension 54286 or bleep 3505.

Out of hours discuss the patient with the ophthalmology registrar at the eye pavilion via the switchboard. Remember to inform switchboard you are calling from SJH ED as they will contact the correct ophthalmology registrar (2nd on call covers SJH).

If the registrar advises outpatient follow-up at St John’s simply leave the patient’s ED notes for the receptionists to take to OPD1 the next working day. The patient will be contacted by the eye clinic and follow-up arranged.
