Patients requiring follow up for fractures distal to, and including, metacarpal bones may be seen in the hand trauma clinic. Please the guide on this page for suitability for referral, and the urgency for being see at clinic. If there are no suitable slots within the appropriate timescale, the case may need to be discussed with the plastic surgical on-call doctor.
The reception staff can organise hand trauma clinic appointments if you ask them. Ensure that the following is documented:
- injuries
- urgency of referral
- advice given (+/- discharge leaflets)
