Procedural sedation
Warning
Procedural sedation at SJH ED should only be done in the resus rooms, with the appropriate number of staff and with a physician who is trained in advanced airway skills (see the SJH ED advanced airway management policy). Also consider whether the procedure that is being done needs to be done in the emergency department at that time of day - it may be that another service can provide the procedure needed, or the sedation can be delayed to a time of day where more staff are available.
