Warning
As of August 2025:
1. SJH Stroke consultants are to be contacted ONLY for thrombolysis / thrombectomy referrals (differ to RIE stroke team, they have non-stroke commitments with clinics and ward rounds).

Discuss your patients with ED consultant or registrar

Stroke Nurses do not give advice. They should only be contacted if you have a stroke patient who will require a stroke bed and put on their review list.
2. Sudden and ongoing neurological deficit (even with mild improvement) thought to be stroke should be considered for
- thrombetomy if <6 hr onset 08:00-16:30 Mon-Fri
- +/- thrombolysis if <4.5hr onset
For all these patients:
- Put in Resus for assessment
- NIHSS & swallow assessment
