Discharge Coordinator
The Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit
The Unit has two discharge coordinators. Both Gillian and Anne-Marie have extensive experience working in spinal injuries.
Their main role is to coordinate your journey through rehabilitation from admission through to discharge. They will liaise with you, your family, professionals from the team and external organisations such as social work to facilitate a safe discharge.
The discharge planning process begins shortly following your admission. This is because of the complexity of some people's care needs.
Meet the team
Gillian Irvine has worked in the Spinal Injuries Unit since 1995 and was a Charge Nurse prior to this role.
Anne-Marie Pugh qualified in 2004, working in surgical and spinal injury rehab in Philipshill and respiratory care before starting this role in 2018.
