Meet the team
Susan Bilsland, the Senior Charge Nurse in Spinal Outpatient Department.
Susan started her career in spinal injuries after undertaking a student placement in the spinal injuries unit in Sydney, Australia. This is where she developed an interest in spinal cord injuries.
Since 2009, Susan worked in Philipshill as a nurse before moving to general intensive Care in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for 2 years. She returned to the spinal injuries unit to undertake the role of Discharge Co-ordinator before going on to work as a senior member of the nursing team on Philipshill.
After a spell working as a Senior Charge Nurse within Philipshill, Susan went on to become the Senior Charge Nurse of the spinal injury Outpatient department in 2024 where she leads in areas such as patient review, halo maintenance, urodynamic investigations, intrathecal pump services and fertility. Susan works alongside the experienced and dedicated staff in the department to ensure quality patient care is delivered.
