Physiotherapy
Warning
The physiotherapy department in National Spinal Injuries Unit consist of qualified physiotherapists and physiotherapy support workers.
The staff are:

In addition to the team above, the department will often have additional physiotherapists who are on rotational posts and work in the unit for several months at a time.
The physiotherapy team generally work Monday – Friday 08.30 until 16.30 and are based in the gym.
A weekend service is provided to those patients with an acute injury for passive movements or for respiratory care. There is also an emergency out of hours respiratory care service which is provided by the On-Call Physiotherapy Service at the Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit.
On admission patients are allocated a physiotherapist who will generally work with them for the duration of their rehabilitation. Once out of bed, patients will be given a timetable to attend their therapy in the gym at specific times. The timetable will be posted at their bedside. The frequency, duration, and equipment used will be tailored to each individuals’ needs.
