User guide - Introduction to the Right Decision Service (RDS)
The Right Decision Service and its benefits
The Right Decision Service (RDS) is a Once for Scotland digital platform which empowers NHS clinical and people to make consistent, safe, person-centred care decisions.
Its mission is to provide a national source of digital tools that enable health and care staff and citizens to make safe decisions quickly 'on the go,’ based on validated evidence. These decision support tools put evidence at the fingertips of staff and citizens through everyday technology – including web and mobile apps and integration into electronic care systems.
Header and Branding
The inclusion of the NHS Scotland logo on the header makes it clear that this is an NHS Scotland owned and validated resource.
Both the NHS Scotland logo and the Right Decision Service title appear at the top of all pages as clickable links. You can click on either of these from anywhere within the Right Decision Service to take you back to the home page.

What is a toolkit?
Under the search box, a definition of a toolkit appears for users. 'A toolkit is a package of resources and tools that support decision-making on a specific topic. Each toolkit is delivered as a website and downloadable mobile resource within the RDS platform.'

Search box
The search box appears alongside a toggle switch. If you want to search all content on the site, then simply ensure that you have the ‘All content’ toggle selected. If you only want to search for particular toolkits, then toggle on the ‘Toolkit titles’ option. Click on the green ‘Search’ tab after you have typed in a term or after you have switched toggles.
